Every one of us struggles with feelings of acceptance. In the story of “How The Sunflower Got It’s Name,” the little plant struggled with acceptance because it was so different from the flowers around it. It compared its lack of color with the colors of the flowers around it and felt bad. Sometimes, we are tempted to compare our looks, clothing, toys, houses, or other things in our life with those around us and it can make us feel bad and unacceptable to the world around us. What made the sunflower special was not it’s color or the friends that it had. What made the flower special was what it had been created to be. This was only reached when the flower was given an understanding of its but it’s identity.
